New General Catalogue objects
Of course, there are many excellent and interesting objects visible
in dark skies. Initially, I tackled the Messier list. Now, I regularly
view other deep sky objects. This page contains a log of NGC objects
viewed.
The New General Cataogue (NGC) of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars was
compiled by Dreyer in 1888. It contains 7840 objects. It is supplemented
by two IC catalogues.
See the other deep sky list for red stars,
supernovae, LEDA galaxies, etc. observed! Also note the "other"
page contains the cross-reference lists for Collinder, Arp, etc.
This is helpful as I view the RASC "Finest NGCs" and consider
the daunting Herschel 400 list...
Symbols legend:
* - asterisk, denotes an object I wish to revisit
ƒ - latin f with hook, for RASC Finest NGC objects
⁴ - superscript 4, items on the Herschel 400 observing list
© - copyright, Caldwell targets
† - dagger, RASC Deep-Sky Gems object

Quite small in the Tele Vue refractor. To the north-west, there
was this orangey star. Noted a string of stars. Nice. Blue white
stars in the cluster, aka Collinder 361. Neat alignment of about
three stars, equally bright. Plus really faint points. Streamer
